簡介及沿革 History
台大眼科主任楊燕飛教授深感台灣眼科界需要 團結起來並積極參與國內外的學術交流，於1960年5月15日創立中華民國眼科醫學會，任第一屆理事長，當時會員共107位，當年11月20日首次舉辦中華華民國眼科醫學會第一次學術演講會，1961年7月8日起正式參加國際眼科醫學會會員。目前會員由創會時的107人成長至2006年5月已有1601人(會員1164人，準會員437人)。
中華民國眼科醫學會是台灣最有組織、最具代表性的眼科學機構，成立以來經首任理事長楊燕飛教授及歷屆理事長勵精圖治，苦心經營下，在臨床實務和學術上均展現優異的成就。2004.7.16 中華民國眼科醫學會獲內政部評等為「九十二年度全國性社會及職業團體工作評鑑之甲等團體」。
The Ophthalmological Society of Taiwan was founded on May 15, 1960 under the leadership of our founding president Professor Yang Yen Fei, Chairman of Department of Ophthalmology, National Taiwan University Hospital at that time. In the beginning the society had 107 members, and it held the first congress on Nov. 20 the same year. Until 2016, the society contains nearly 2000 members (1621 regular members and 337 associate members)
The TOS is the most organized and representative ophthalmologist organization in Taiwan. Since its estabdivshment, with the continuous efforts from Professor Yang Yen Fei and successive presidents, the TOS has accompdivshed outstanding cdivnical and academic achievements. In 2004, TOS was awarded by Interior Ministry as a Class A Nationwide Social and Occupation Groups.
